Apple unveils six devices in two days during major spring launch
Apple introduced six new devices in two days as part of one of its most ambitious spring product launches in recent years, with at least one additional announcement expected during a hands on media event scheduled for Wednesday.
The rollout began Monday, March 2, when the company revealed the iPhone 17e and the iPad Air powered by the M4 chip. On Tuesday, Apple followed with a larger wave of announcements that included the MacBook Air with the M5 chip, the MacBook Pro equipped with M5 Pro and M5 Max processors, and two updated Studio Display monitors. Preorders for most of the new products begin March 4, with devices expected to reach customers starting March 11.
The first day focused on Apple’s more accessible products. The iPhone 17e, priced at $599, replaces the previous iPhone 16e. It features the new A19 processor, MagSafe charging support, and double the base storage capacity.
Apple also presented the new iPad Air M4, offered in 11 inch and 13 inch versions. The tablet includes 12 gigabytes of RAM and upgraded wireless connectivity, adding support for Wi Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.
Tuesday’s announcements targeted higher performance devices. The MacBook Air M5 arrives in 13 inch and 15 inch models, with both base and maximum storage capacities doubled compared with the previous generation.
The MacBook Pro lineup received a significant upgrade with the introduction of the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. Entry level storage now starts at one terabyte, while premium configurations support up to 128 gigabytes of memory.
Apple also refreshed its external display lineup. The updated Studio Display starts at $1,599 and introduces Thunderbolt 5 connectivity along with an improved camera system. Alongside it, Apple unveiled the new Studio Display XDR, a 27 inch mini LED 5K monitor offering peak HDR brightness of 2,000 nits and a refresh rate of 120 hertz. The display carries a starting price of $3,299.
Reports suggest Apple may still have another product to reveal this week. A reference to a device called “MacBook Neo” briefly appeared on Apple’s regulatory compliance page before being removed, a discovery first reported by MacRumors.
The rumored laptop is expected to serve as Apple’s long awaited budget MacBook, powered by the A18 Pro chip instead of the M series processors used in the company’s other Mac computers. If confirmed, the device could start at around $599, placing it in direct competition with entry level Windows laptops and Chromebooks.
Apple chief executive Tim Cook signaled the product wave earlier in a post on X, describing the week as a major announcement period beginning Monday morning. With an “experience” event approaching where media have been invited to locations in New York, London, and Shanghai, Apple appears poised to close the week with another closely watched product launch.
