Christophe Lambert hospitalized after collapsing at Pennsylvania fan convention
French actor Christophe Lambert was briefly hospitalized after collapsing during an autograph session at a pop-culture convention in Pennsylvania, prompting concern among fans before his representatives said he was doing well.
The incident occurred during Steel City Con, where Lambert was appearing for fans of Highlander, the franchise that helped establish him as an international film star. According to reports, the actor suddenly collapsed while meeting attendees and signing autographs.
Emergency responders quickly intervened and took him to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation.
Actor later reassures fans
A representative for Lambert said on Sunday that the actor was feeling “perfectly well” and had already been released from hospital care.
Lambert subsequently returned to his hotel in Monroeville, according to his spokesperson. The actor's representatives attributed the episode to exhaustion, explaining that he had not slept enough before the appearance.
They also said Lambert had not eaten during the day before the autograph session, resulting in a drop in blood sugar that contributed to his collapse.
The explanation appeared to ease concerns surrounding the incident, particularly given the circumstances in which it occurred in front of convention attendees.
A career closely associated with Highlander
Lambert remains particularly recognized internationally for his portrayal of Connor MacLeod in Highlander, the 1986 fantasy action film that became a cult classic and spawned several subsequent productions.
Before that breakthrough, he had already attracted major attention with Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, released in 1984. The role established him as a prominent French actor with an international career.
His appearance at Steel City Con brought him directly into contact with fans of the films and characters that have defined several stages of his career.
Convention appearance interrupted by health scare
Celebrity appearances at conventions typically involve long autograph sessions, photographs and continuous interaction with attendees. Lambert's collapse temporarily disrupted that routine and led to an emergency medical response.
The episode nevertheless ended without a reported prolonged hospitalization. His representatives' comments indicated that the actor had returned to his hotel after leaving the medical facility.
For fans who witnessed the incident, the immediate concern was replaced by reassurance once his condition was publicly addressed.
Lambert's brief hospitalization highlights the physical demands that can accompany convention appearances, particularly when extended travel, limited rest and irregular meals are involved. In this case, his representatives said fatigue and a lack of food were behind the episode.
