Pezeshkian says AI and flawed intelligence led to US miscalculations on Iran

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has argued that the United States misjudged Iran’s internal political situation by relying too heavily on artificial intelligence systems and what he described as unreliable intelligence.

Pezeshkian said Washington had expected economic hardship, social instability and domestic pressure to weaken the Iranian government. According to the Iranian president, however, those expectations failed to accurately reflect developments inside the country.

His comments come as Washington continues to consider its options toward Tehran. US President Donald Trump has indicated that he favors maintaining economic pressure on Iran rather than immediately launching another military operation, while describing the Iranian economy as being under severe strain.

The debate also highlights growing concerns over the use of artificial intelligence in intelligence analysis and strategic decision-making. AI systems can process enormous amounts of information, but their conclusions depend heavily on the quality, accuracy and context of the data provided to them.

Iran has repeatedly accused the United States and its allies of attempting to destabilize the country. US officials, meanwhile, have maintained pressure on Tehran through economic and diplomatic measures.

The latest statements add another dimension to the broader confrontation between Washington and Tehran, with intelligence gathering, economic pressure and emerging technologies increasingly playing a role in how both sides assess political and security developments.
