China dominates humanoid robot market with more than 97% of global shipments

China is rapidly strengthening its position in the global humanoid robotics industry, with Chinese manufacturers accounting for more than 97% of worldwide shipments during the first half of the year, according to research data cited by Bloomberg.

Global shipments reached approximately 19,100 units during the first six months, more than three times the level recorded during the same period a year earlier. The sharp increase highlights the rapid expansion of demand for humanoid robots and growing efforts to bring the technology into commercial use.

The global market is expected to expand significantly in the coming years. Estimates suggest that shipments could reach around 60,000 units by the end of the year and approach 500,000 units by 2030.

Chinese manufacturer Agibot reportedly led the market, accounting for about 44% of global shipments during the first half of the year, followed by fellow Chinese company Unitree Robotics.

China’s advantage reflects its large manufacturing base, expanding investment in artificial intelligence and robotics, and efforts to reduce production costs while accelerating the development of commercially viable machines.

The rapid progress of Chinese companies is also intensifying technological competition with the United States. As both countries invest heavily in artificial intelligence and advanced robotics, humanoid robots are emerging as a potentially important industry for the next decade.
