Rabat region health group aims to improve care coordination
The Ministry of Health and Social Protection announced the launch of a new territorial health grouping in the Rabat Salé Kénitra region. The initiative is designed to strengthen coordination between hospitals and improve the quality of healthcare services for residents.
The announcement came during the first board meeting of the new structure held in Rabat under the supervision of the head of government. The meeting focused on operational foundations including budget allocation and organizational structure.
Reform targeting hospital coordination and service quality
The territorial health group is part of a broader national reform of the healthcare system. Authorities say the model will improve coordination between university hospitals, regional hospitals, provincial facilities, and local health centers.
The Rabat Salé Kénitra region hosts more than five million residents and includes a wide network of healthcare infrastructure. This includes a university hospital center, regional hospitals, provincial hospitals, and more than 270 primary healthcare centers.
Governance model linked to national social protection reform
Officials describe the project as part of a wider transformation of health governance. The reform is aligned with national efforts to expand social protection coverage and improve territorial equity in access to healthcare services.
The new structure is expected to act as a coordination body that improves planning and management across different levels of the healthcare system. It also aims to streamline decision making and resource allocation within the region.
Implementation phase begins with administrative setup
The first board meeting marked the formal launch of the implementation phase. Decisions were taken on the group’s internal organization and budget framework, setting the foundation for operational rollout.
Health authorities describe the initiative as a step toward deeper structural reform of the national health system. The model is expected to be gradually extended as part of a wider national rollout strategy.
