Two new sexual violence complaints filed against Patrick Bruel

French singer and actor Patrick Bruel is facing two new criminal complaints alleging sexual violence, adding to ongoing legal proceedings that have already placed him under formal investigation in several separate cases.

According to the lawyer representing the complainants, the two women filed complaints in July 2026, alleging incidents that reportedly took place in 1994 and 2005. One complaint concerns an alleged rape, while the other relates to an alleged sexual assault.

The complaints were submitted on July 16 and July 23 by attorney Iris Biehler, who is working in coordination with the Fondation des Femmes, an organization that supports victims of gender-based and sexual violence.

The alleged incidents date back several decades and may fall outside the statutory limitation period under French law. Nevertheless, the complainants decided to come forward, arguing that their accounts contribute to documenting what they describe as a pattern of alleged behavior over an extended period.

Patrick Bruel has firmly denied the allegations. His legal team has consistently rejected the accusations made against him and maintains that he contests all claims brought forward in the various cases.

The new complaints come as the artist is already under formal judicial investigation in connection with other allegations, including accusations of rape, attempted rape, sexual assault and sexual harassment. Under the French legal system, being placed under formal investigation (mise en examen) means that investigating judges consider there to be serious or consistent evidence warranting further inquiry. It does not constitute a finding of guilt, and the presumption of innocence applies throughout the proceedings.

French judicial authorities have not yet announced whether the latest complaints will lead to additional investigative measures. Prosecutors and investigating magistrates will determine the legal implications of the new allegations, including any issues related to statutory time limits.

The case continues to attract significant public attention as France's justice system examines multiple allegations while ensuring the rights of both the complainants and the accused are respected throughout the legal process.
