Uganda declared Ebola-free after containing latest outbreak

Uganda has officially been declared free of Ebola after health authorities confirmed the end of the country’s latest outbreak, marking a major achievement in efforts to contain the deadly viral disease.

The outbreak, which was identified in mid-May 2026, resulted in 20 confirmed infections and two deaths before being brought under control, according to Ugandan health officials.
