Fostering AI Integration in Moroccan Education: Minister Advocates Comprehensive Approach
Rabat - Addressing an international symposium on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation Abdellatif Miraoui underscored the imperative of actively integrating AI into Morocco's education system. While acknowledging the multifaceted opportunities AI presents, Miraoui emphasized that realizing its full potential demands concerted efforts across various domains.
The minister highlighted the significance of equipping educators with AI training and gradually infusing its concepts throughout all academic levels. "The effective use of AI, which is revolutionizing global education, depends on the development of engaging, accessible materials seamlessly incorporating AI into curricula," he remarked.
Furthermore, Miraoui recommended the establishment of pilot programs in universities, providing educators with opportunities to test AI solutions in authentic classroom settings. These initiatives could serve as launching pads for further experimentation within academic institutions.
Miraoui stressed the pivotal role of institutional support, encompassing regulatory frameworks, funding, incentives, and active participation from decision-makers, for the seamless assimilation of AI. "Support entails involving management in understanding the pros and cons of AI and spearheading its adoption," he stated.
The minister delivered his address during a two-day international symposium on AI organized by Morocco’s Higher Council of Education, Training, and Scientific Research. The summit brought together experts to deliberate on opportunities and challenges in leveraging AI to transform the country’s education landscape.
