Pro-Kurdish party calls for immediate lifting of Kobané siege
Türkiye’s pro-Kurdish DEM Party called on Saturday for the immediate lifting of the siege imposed on the Syrian city of Kobané, warning of a looming humanitarian disaster in the predominantly Kurdish town near the Turkish border.
According to the party, the situation in Kobané has deteriorated sharply, evolving from a severe crisis into what it described as a “deadly catastrophe.” The statement followed a visit by a DEM delegation to the area, where members assessed conditions on the ground.
The party urged all relevant actors to end the siege not only in Kobané but also across northern and northeastern Syria, stressing the urgent need to allow humanitarian aid and ensure civilian protection.
