Diesel prices in France up by 10 cents since start of year
Diesel fuel prices in France have risen by about ten cents per liter since the beginning of the year, according to calculations based on official data. This increase reflects a continuing upward trend at the pump, with diesel now averaging around €1.67 per liter. At the same time, prices for gasoline grades have also climbed, though to a lesser extent, with SP98 and SP95 reaching higher average levels and E10 again above €1.69 per liter.
Analysts note that international geopolitical tensions and changes in energy policy can influence fuel costs, even though crude oil markets, such as Brent, have remained relatively calm with prices hovering at moderate levels. Earlier forecasts by industry representatives had anticipated further small increases in pump prices tied to evolving regulatory requirements affecting energy suppliers.
In addition to overall price rises, motorists still face a noticeable gap in pricing between motorway service stations and standard outlets: fuel tends to cost significantly more on highways, especially for gasoline, where differences of more than 15 to 17 cents per liter are common.
The recent increase highlights how fuel cost fluctuations continue to impact household budgets, as drivers adjust consumption and refueling strategies in response to evolving market conditions.
