Severe weather in Afghanistan causes 61 deaths and widespread damage
Heavy snowfall and intense rainfall in Afghanistan have resulted in 61 deaths over three days, from Wednesday to Friday, according to the National Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA).
In addition to the fatalities, 110 people were injured, and 458 homes were partially or completely destroyed, primarily in the northern and central provinces. ANDMA shared a map on X highlighting the areas most affected by the severe weather.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation and provide emergency assistance to affected populations, as rescue and relief efforts are underway.
