BTR New Material expands Morocco ambitions with major industrial projects
BTR New Material Group has reported significant progress on its industrial projects in Morocco, strengthening the country’s position as a regional center for green industries and electric mobility technologies. The company said the steady implementation of its projects reflects growing confidence in Morocco’s industrial ecosystem and long-term investment potential.
The assessment was presented during the first steering committee meeting held at the Tanger Tech Industrial Acceleration Zone, where the group reviewed the advancement of its cathode and anode material projects currently under development. Moroccan officials and company executives discussed the pace of construction and future expansion prospects linked to electric vehicle supply chains.
Karim Zidane stated that company executives expressed satisfaction with the implementation process and highlighted plans to explore additional industrial projects in Morocco. According to the minister, the projects are progressing according to established timelines and reflect a structured industrial deployment strategy.
The company emphasized that Morocco offers increasing opportunities in sectors connected to electric mobility and next-generation battery technologies. BTR New Material Group also indicated interest in expanding investments tied to the global transition toward electric vehicles, an industry where Morocco is seeking a stronger role through integrated manufacturing platforms and export-oriented production.
The industrial projects represent an investment estimated at MAD 6 billion, or roughly $650 million. The developments are expected to create more than 1,150 direct jobs once operational. Production is scheduled to begin in 2026, a step viewed as important for the expansion of Morocco’s emerging electric battery ecosystem and broader green industrial strategy.
Moroccan authorities consider the projects part of a wider national effort to strengthen the country’s integration into global value chains linked to advanced technologies and sustainable industries. Officials have increasingly promoted Morocco as a competitive destination for battery manufacturing, automotive production, and renewable energy investments targeting European and African markets.
