Netherlands, Nexperia decline to comment on reports of chip shipment resumption
The Dutch government and semiconductor company Nexperia on Saturday declined to comment on reports suggesting that the White House plans to announce the resumption of shipments from Nexperia’s Chinese manufacturing facilities.
The move, if confirmed, would offer relief to automakers including Ford, General Motors, and Honda, who have faced potential production cuts amid a global shortage of essential chips.
A source familiar with the matter told Reuters on Friday that Washington was preparing to lift restrictions, following weeks of discussions aimed at easing tensions within the global semiconductor supply chain.
In a statement, the Dutch government said it remained in contact with Chinese authorities and international partners to “work toward a constructive solution that restores balance to the chip supply chain and that benefits both Nexperia and our economies.”
A Nexperia spokesperson added that the company had been “continuously calling for a de-escalation of the current situation.”
