Over 27,000 Children with Disabilities Enrolled in Moroccan Schools in 2024
In 2024, approximately 27,500 children with disabilities were enrolled in schools across Morocco, with a total budget allocation of MAD 396 million. This announcement was made by Naima Ben Yahya, the Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration, and Family, during a session at the House of Councillors on Tuesday.
The Minister highlighted that 19,000 individuals had received technical and medical aids, while 1,000 project leaders benefited from support totaling MAD 53.5 million. These efforts were complemented by various initiatives designed to improve purchasing power for those affected.
Ben Yahya stressed that these initiatives are part of Morocco's integrated policy for the promotion of the rights of persons with disabilities for the years 2015-2025. This policy focuses on aligning the legislative and regulatory frameworks to better integrate disability considerations into national and regional development plans.
Furthermore, the Minister underscored the importance of raising public awareness about disability. Efforts are being made to encourage families to register their children with disabilities, ensuring they can access the various benefits and services available to them.
