Driss Chraibi elected president of the Royal Moroccan Basketball Federation

Driss Chraibi has been elected president of the Royal Moroccan Basketball Federation (FRMB) following the ordinary electoral general assembly held in Salé. The vote marked a turning point for Moroccan basketball, an area that has faced organizational and structural challenges in recent years.

The election recorded strong participation, with representatives from dozens of clubs and regional leagues taking part in the process. Chraibi secured a clear majority over his competitor, opening a new chapter for the governance of the sport at the national level.

In his first statements after the vote, the newly elected president welcomed the smooth conduct of the electoral process and emphasized his commitment to dialogue and cooperation. He stressed the importance of restoring confidence among all stakeholders, including clubs, regional leagues and technical staff.

According to Chraibi, the priority in the coming period will be to launch structural reforms aimed at revitalizing basketball in Morocco. These include reorganizing regional leagues, supporting grassroots clubs and strengthening the role of national coaches and technical experts.

Financial sustainability is also expected to be a key focus of the new leadership. Plans include diversifying funding sources and exploring new partnerships to ensure the long-term development of the sport.
