New urban bus fleet officially enters service in Fez

The city of Fez took a significant step forward in modernizing its public transport system on Monday with the official launch of a new urban bus fleet serving both the city and surrounding municipalities.

The initiative introduces more than 150 next-generation buses designed to strengthen urban and peri-urban mobility. Equipped with modern onboard systems, the new vehicles aim to improve service reliability, passenger comfort, and accessibility across the city.

The fleet was acquired through a partnership involving public authorities at both regional and municipal levels, as part of a broader national strategy to renew public transport services. Operations have been entrusted to Issal, a subsidiary of the CTM group, which will gradually deploy the buses over the coming days.

The rollout is expected to reach full capacity before the end of December, coinciding with major sporting events hosted in the city. Several neighborhoods will benefit from improved coverage, including the reopening of previously discontinued routes.

Featuring air conditioning, Wi-Fi connectivity, and facilities for passengers with reduced mobility, the new buses are set to ease long-standing challenges linked to outdated transport infrastructure and to align Fez’s mobility services with international standards.
