In a proactive move to better serve burgeoning urban communities, Morocco's police force has established 13 new security structures nationwide in 2023. According to a recent press release from the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN), these additions aim to fortify community policing initiatives and align services with the needs of expanding population centers.

To address the dynamic urban landscape, five key structures were inaugurated in the capital city of Rabat, including the city's fifth police district and a new precinct in the Ryad neighborhood. Similarly, Morocco's second-largest city, Marrakech, witnessed the launch of its 24th district.

In response to the evolving demands of emergency situations, mobile units were deployed, such as the newly established permanent squad stationed in Kenitra. Outfitted with motorcycles and emergency vehicles, these rapid response teams are dedicated to addressing citizens' distress calls promptly and with care. Throughout the year, emergency call centers managed an impressive 19 million phone requests, leading to hundreds of thousands of interventions on public roads.

Furthermore, the police prefectures in Kénitra and Larache each introduced new canine brigades to support officers, while a mobile law enforcement unit was commissioned in Settat. Construction initiatives were also underway for security facilities in Fkih Ben Saleh and Tangier.

In a bid for modernization, the DGSN launched reception areas with integrated digital systems at identity registration centers. Characterized by sleek interiors and staffed by well-trained multilingual personnel, these customer service hubs are designed to streamline processing times for both residents and foreigners.

As the security apparatus adapts to meet the challenges of the 21st century, these expanded structures and improved services mark crucial strides in ensuring public safety in Morocco’s growing metropolitan centers. With a fleet of over 2,100 new vehicles patrolling the roads, the national police force is well-positioned to safeguard communities across the kingdom.
