Morocco's stance on achieving lasting peace in the Middle East took center stage at the UN Security Council, as Ambassador Omar Hilale outlined a comprehensive vision for regional stability. Speaking at a session chaired by Algeria's Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf, Hilale emphasized the need to transform the current ceasefire into a foundation for sustainable peace.

The ambassador highlighted several key requirements for meaningful progress. These include rebuilding war-damaged areas and establishing a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, coexisting peacefully with Israel.

Supporting the recent ceasefire agreement, Hilale stressed the importance of its full implementation, including hostage release, the return of displaced persons, and ensuring unrestricted humanitarian aid delivery to affected regions. He echoed King Mohammed VI's cautionary message about preventing the emergence of new crises while resolving existing ones.

The ambassador expressed concern over unilateral actions in Jerusalem, warning that such measures heighten regional tensions. He reinforced King Mohammed VI's position on preserving Jerusalem's status as a shared sacred space for Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, maintaining its historical, legal, and demographic character.

Highlighting Morocco's active involvement in regional stability, Hilale praised the Al-Quds Committee's efforts under King Mohammed VI's leadership. Through its Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency, the committee provides essential support to Palestinians, particularly in Jerusalem.

The ambassador emphasized UNRWA's crucial humanitarian role, describing it as fundamental to regional aid efforts since its establishment. He concluded by addressing broader regional concerns, affirming Morocco's support for Lebanese and Syrian territorial integrity while emphasizing the Syrian people's right to self-determination and development.
