Erdoğan outlines vision for a stronger and more technologically advanced Türkiye
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has outlined his vision for the country’s future, emphasizing a productive economy, technological leadership, stronger democratic institutions and a more influential role in international affairs.
In an article published on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Justice and Development Party (AK Party), Erdoğan reflected on the political movement’s evolution since its establishment in August 2001. He said the party’s long-term objective was to build a country capable of making its own decisions while strengthening the relationship between citizens and state institutions.
Erdoğan highlighted investments in education, healthcare, transportation, energy, social policies and urban development as important elements of Türkiye’s transformation over the past quarter-century. He also pointed to increased participation by women, young people and other groups in economic and social life.
Technology and defense industries featured prominently in his assessment. Erdoğan said investments ranging from unmanned aerial vehicles and the KAAN fighter jet to naval platforms and air-defense systems had strengthened Türkiye’s domestic industrial and technological capabilities. He also cited the TOGG electric vehicle, the country’s space program, nuclear energy projects and Black Sea natural gas discoveries as examples of growing national capacity.
Looking ahead, the Turkish president said the country intends to accelerate investment in artificial intelligence, semiconductors, advanced energy technologies and high-value-added production. He presented technological development as a key pillar of Türkiye’s ambition to strengthen its strategic independence.
On foreign policy, Erdoğan described Türkiye as an increasingly influential actor in a changing international system. He stressed the importance of maintaining relations based on diplomacy, dialogue and mutual interests while highlighting the country’s role in NATO, the G20 and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
He also reiterated his long-standing call for reform of international institutions, arguing that global decision-making should better reflect current geopolitical realities and the diversity of societies. According to Erdoğan, a more inclusive and accountable international system is necessary to address global crises effectively.
The president also recalled the challenges Türkiye has faced over the past 25 years, including terrorism, regional conflicts, the COVID-19 pandemic, economic difficulties and the devastating earthquakes of February 2023. He said reconstruction efforts in the affected provinces remain a major priority for the government.
Looking to the future, Erdoğan pledged to continue efforts to reduce inflation while increasing production, investment and employment. He also stressed the importance of expanding opportunities for young people in education, employment, entrepreneurship and housing.
As the AK Party marks its 25th anniversary, Erdoğan presented his vision of a “Century of Türkiye” centered on a strong democracy, a productive economy, technological advancement, an influential foreign policy and stronger social cohesion.
