Russian poll shows strong support for Putin amid continued backing for ruling party

A new poll by the Russian Public Opinion Research Center indicates that President Vladimir Putin continues to enjoy a high level of public confidence, with 73.3% of respondents saying they trust him. By contrast, 22.1% said they did not share the same level of confidence in the Russian president.

The survey also found that 67% of respondents expressed satisfaction with Putin’s performance as president, while 21.1% said they were dissatisfied. The figures highlight continued support for the Russian leadership among those surveyed.

Government approval was lower than the president’s ratings. Some 44.5% of participants approved of the government’s performance, while 23.9% expressed a negative view. Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin received a 55.7% trust rating, compared with 24% who said they did not trust him.

The poll also examined a hypothetical election for Russia’s State Duma. The ruling United Russia party ranked first with 34% of support, followed by the Communist Party with 12.3%. The Liberal Democratic Party received 10.1%, while New People stood at 8.7% and A Just Russia received 4.8%.

The survey was conducted from August 3 to 9 among 1,600 Russian citizens aged 18 and above. Researchers used both telephone and face-to-face interviews, with a reported margin of error of 2.5%.

The results offer a snapshot of political sentiment in Russia and show a significant gap between support for the president and approval of the broader government. However, polling figures represent the views of the surveyed sample at the time the interviews were conducted and can vary depending on methodology and political circumstances.
