AfDB President Lauds King Mohammed VI for Transformative Progress

In a recent statement, Akinwumi Adesina, President of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), hailed the extraordinary advancements Morocco has achieved under the leadership of King Mohammed VI. As Morocco approaches Throne Day, Adesina reflected on a quarter-century of strategic development that has firmly placed the nation among Africa's most stable and advanced countries.

Adesina commended the King’s ambitious vision and steadfast leadership, which have been instrumental in Morocco’s impressive economic and infrastructural growth. Over the past 25 years, the nation has not only doubled its GDP but also established world-class infrastructure that underscores its rapid development.

Among the standout projects are the Noor Solar Power Plant, one of the largest solar energy projects globally, and the Tanger Med Port, a significant maritime hub. These projects highlight Morocco's commitment to sustainable and forward-thinking initiatives.

Morocco's high-speed rail line, a unique feature on the African continent, further exemplifies the country’s strategic vision and regional influence. This railway, along with the expansion of the national road and highway network, the construction of numerous ports and airports, and the improvement of potable water access in rural areas, showcases the extensive infrastructural advancements that have facilitated economic growth and diminished regional inequalities.

Adesina also underscored the importance of investing in human capital. Significant strides have been made in enhancing the educational system and vocational training, which are critical for equipping the workforce with the skills needed for a diversified and innovative economy.
