Russia-Ukraine: List of Key Events, Day 1, 202
On Tuesday, June 10, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine intensified as Russian forces launched extensive drone assaults on Kyiv and the southern port city of Odesa, according to regional officials.
Timur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, reported simultaneous strikes on multiple areas within the capital. These attacks led to structural damage and fires across several neighborhoods.
In Odesa, Governor Oleh Kiper stated that a large-scale drone offensive targeted an emergency medical facility, a maternity ward, and residential buildings. A 59-year-old man lost his life, and four others were injured in the residential area. Fortunately, there were no casualties at the maternity hospital.
Russian media sources, citing the country’s defense ministry, announced that air defense units intercepted and destroyed 76 Ukrainian drones in just two hours on Monday. Meanwhile, Russian forces reportedly continued their advance in the east-central Ukrainian region of Dnipropetrovsk, gaining additional territory.
In a rare moment of diplomacy, both nations conducted a prisoner swap on Monday involving detainees under the age of 25, following negotiations held earlier in Istanbul.
In response to Ukraine’s drone activities, Russia's civil aviation authority temporarily shut down operations at all four major airports in the Moscow area as a precautionary measure early Tuesday.
