Honor 600 introduces AI feature that turns photos into videos
The Honor 600 is making waves with a new artificial intelligence feature capable of transforming still photos into short videos, positioning the device as a playful yet innovative addition to the competitive smartphone market.
With its bold orange finish and sleek design reminiscent of premium devices like the iPhone 17 Pro Max, the latest handset from Honor blends aesthetic appeal with advanced AI-powered capabilities.
At the center of attention is the “Image to Video” function, accessible directly through the phone’s gallery under a creation tab. Users can select up to three images, choose a format—either portrait (9:16) or landscape (16:9)—and generate a short video clip using AI.
The feature includes around fifteen predefined templates, ranging from creative scenarios like turning a subject into a musician to generating romantic or seasonal scenes. Users can also input custom prompts to guide the AI in creating personalized mini-stories. However, the resulting clips remain brief, typically lasting between three and eight seconds.
Early tests show that while the results can be entertaining and sometimes impressive, they are not always flawless. The AI may struggle with details such as body proportions or accurately reproducing visual elements, occasionally producing unrealistic outputs.
Despite these limitations, the feature offers easy sharing options and integrates with built-in editing tools that allow users to combine clips into short films, some of which can be automatically generated using AI.
The technology behind this innovation is based on “AI Image to Video 2.0,” an upgraded system derived from earlier developments linked to Google Veo. The latest version is now optimized for the device’s hardware, including the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chip and Honor’s custom interface.
However, the feature does come with constraints. Generating videos can take more than two minutes and requires a stable internet connection, as the process is bandwidth-intensive. Interruptions may occur even under seemingly strong network conditions.
Ultimately, the Honor 600’s AI-powered video generator highlights both the promise and current limitations of generative AI in consumer devices. While not yet perfect, it signals a growing trend toward more creative and interactive smartphone experiences.
