Casablanca hosts first edition of GITEX Future Health Africa Morocco
Casablanca is hosting the first edition of GITEX Future Health Africa Morocco from May 4 to May 6, marking a major step in the country’s ambition to become a leading hub for modern and connected healthcare systems across Africa and beyond.
The event, held under high patronage, aims to position Morocco as a regional gateway linking Africa, Europe, and the Middle East in the field of health innovation. It brings together nearly 200 companies from around 30 countries, along with investors, startups, and global healthcare stakeholders.
During the official presentation, the Minister of Health and Social Protection highlighted Morocco’s strategy to develop a competitive and integrated healthcare ecosystem. Beyond hospitals and infrastructure, the focus is increasingly shifting toward digital systems, precision medicine, and artificial intelligence-driven solutions.
Experts involved in the initiative emphasized that the event reflects a broader transformation in healthcare, where technology plays a central role in improving efficiency, diagnosis, and patient care. Artificial intelligence, in particular, is expected to enhance medical imaging, accelerate drug discovery, and optimize hospital workflows.
The presence of major international pharmaceutical and healthcare companies, including global industry leaders, underscores growing interest in Africa’s healthcare market. Several firms are participating in Morocco for the first time, signaling confidence in the country’s evolving ecosystem.
Startups from Africa and other regions are also showcasing innovative solutions, reinforcing Morocco’s position as a platform for medical innovation and expansion into the continent.
Organizers say the event highlights a shared vision of strengthening health sovereignty, advancing digital transformation, and fostering collaboration between public and private actors in the healthcare sector.
