Ubisoft flags further losses after record annual hit
French video game publisher Ubisoft Entertainment has warned investors of another difficult year ahead, following a record financial loss that highlights ongoing challenges in the global gaming industry.
The company reported a significant operating loss for the 2025–2026 fiscal year, marking one of its weakest performances in recent history. Management confirmed that the group continues to face pressure from rising development costs, shifting consumer demand, and intense competition in the entertainment market.
Looking ahead, Ubisoft expects further declines in sales during the 2026–2027 fiscal year, along with additional financial losses before a potential return to profitability in 2027–2028. The company also anticipates a cash outflow in the hundreds of millions of euros as restructuring efforts continue.
Industry analysts note that the video game sector is undergoing major transformation, with publishers increasingly relying on large-scale franchise titles and long-term live-service models to stabilize revenue streams.
Despite current difficulties, Ubisoft maintains that its strategic restructuring plan aims to improve efficiency and strengthen its portfolio of major gaming franchises in the coming years.
