World leaders have reacted to President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw from the 2024 U.S. presidential race after facing mounting scrutiny over his age and health.

Here are key international responses to Biden's departure

Israel

Israeli President Isaac Herzog expressed deep appreciation for Biden’s longstanding support of Israel. "As the first U.S. President to visit Israel during wartime, and a recipient of the Israeli Presidential Medal of Honor, President Biden has been a steadfast ally. His contributions symbolize the enduring bond between our nations," Herzog noted on X.

 

Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy acknowledged Biden’s "tough but principled decision" and extended gratitude for his consistent backing amid Russia’s invasion. “We remain profoundly grateful for President Biden’s leadership during our country’s most challenging times. His support has been crucial in resisting Putin’s advances and maintaining our resolve,” Zelenskyy stated on X. He added, "The ongoing situation in Ukraine and across Europe remains complex, and we hope that America's strong leadership continues to thwart Russian aggression."

Russia

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov emphasized that Moscow's focus remains on its objectives in Ukraine rather than the U.S. electoral outcome. “Our priority is the success of the special military operation, not the results of the U.S. elections,” Peskov told state media.
