Elon Musk’s fortune nears $900 billion as SpaceX valuation surges
Elon Musk’s personal fortune is approaching the $900 billion mark again, driven largely by the continued rise in the valuation of SpaceX and growing evidence of significant institutional investment in the private space company.
SpaceX’s valuation climbed sharply during Monday’s trading session, increasing by 4.45% to an estimated $1.93 trillion, according to CompaniesMarketCap data cited in the report. The surge placed the space company among the world’s most highly valued businesses.
The increase had a direct impact on Musk’s wealth. According to Forbes estimates, his fortune rose by more than $30 billion during the session to approximately $894.9 billion, after temporarily exceeding $911.9 billion during trading.
SpaceX has consequently become one of the most important drivers of Musk’s wealth. The company has expanded well beyond its traditional rocket-launch business, developing a broader space ecosystem involving satellite communications, orbital infrastructure and related technologies.
The latest valuation surge coincided with the deadline for major investment institutions to disclose their holdings to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The filings revealed substantial exposure to SpaceX among prominent institutional investors.
Harvard University was among the notable investors identified in the disclosures, reporting a SpaceX holding valued at approximately $2.2 billion. The investment reportedly represents the largest disclosed U.S. stock holding in the university’s portfolio.
Other major investors have also accumulated significant positions. Nvidia disclosed a stake worth around $21 billion, while BlackRock’s reported holding was valued at approximately $8.7 billion. Fidelity’s position was estimated at about $51.6 billion.
The scale of these investments highlights the growing confidence of major institutions in SpaceX’s long-term prospects. The company has strengthened its position in the global space industry through its launch operations and satellite-based connectivity services, particularly through its Starlink network.
For Musk, the rising value of SpaceX is particularly significant because the company represents a major component of his overall wealth. As a private company, changes in its valuation can have a substantial effect on estimates of his personal fortune.
Investors and market observers will now be watching whether SpaceX can maintain its current momentum. A sustained increase in the company’s valuation could push Musk’s wealth to new records and further widen his lead among the world’s richest individuals.
