Zeekr launches premium electric vehicles in Morocco

In a significant move for Morocco's electric vehicle (EV) landscape, Chinese manufacturer Zeekr has officially entered the market through a strategic alliance with Tractafric Motors Morocco. Established in 2021 by Geely Holding Group, Zeekr is introducing two premium electric models to meet the rising demand for high-quality sustainable mobility solutions.

Younes El Aouad, General Manager of Tractafric Motors Morocco, emphasized that this launch marks a pivotal step for the company. "The introduction of Zeekr in Morocco represents a major strategic advancement for Tractafric Motors," he stated.

Marouane Tarafa, CEO of Optorg Group, highlighted that this initiative builds on their longstanding presence in Africa, providing automotive solutions tailored for the continent.

Currently, two models are available in Morocco:

- Zeekr 001: This premium shooting brake starts at MAD 665,000 ($66,500) and boasts an impressive range of up to 620 km on a single charge. It features rapid charging capability, allowing the battery to recharge from 10% to 80% in just 30 minutes using 200 kW DC charging. The vehicle is offered in three versions, with power outputs ranging from 272 to 544 horsepower. The top-tier all-wheel drive version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in a swift 3.8 seconds.

- Zeekr X: A compact electric SUV starting at MAD 465,000 ($46,500), the Zeekr X offers a range of up to 440 km. It also supports 150 kW DC fast charging from 10% to 80% in 30 minutes and is available in two configurations with 272 or 428 horsepower. The flagship all-wheel drive model matches the 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.8 seconds.

Looking ahead, Zeekr plans to unveil a third model, the Zeekr 7X family SUV, in the third quarter of 2025. This model is expected to feature an extended range of up to 615 km and ultra-fast charging capabilities that can restore 80% of the battery in just 13 minutes. The performance version will deliver an impressive 639 horsepower, achieving 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds.

Designed in Gothenburg, Sweden, under the guidance of Stefan Sielaff, Zeekr vehicles are built on the Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform, which is engineered for safety, optimized range, and intelligent connectivity.

Tarafa aims to sell approximately 100 units this year, with aspirations of establishing Zeekr as a key player among Morocco's reference premium brands.
