Zakoura foundation hosts Rabat forum on ai integration in education
The Fondation Zakoura brought together policymakers, researchers, and education professionals in Rabat for an international conference focused on artificial intelligence and its role in education. Held under the high patronage of Mohammed VI, the two day event took place on April 15 and 16, 2026 at the Bouregreg Congress Palace in Salé, with discussions centered on aligning technological innovation with social responsibility.
Participants examined how artificial intelligence is reshaping teaching and learning processes, with attention to both its potential and its risks. Speakers emphasized the importance of integrating these technologies in a structured and responsible way, ensuring that innovation supports educational quality without weakening the human dimension that underpins teaching. The discussions highlighted applications such as personalized learning, support for teachers, automated assessment, and content generation.
The conference also addressed the transformation of learning methods in increasingly digital environments. Experts pointed to the emergence of more adaptive and interactive learning pathways tailored to student needs. At the same time, they stressed the need to strengthen critical thinking and analytical skills among both students and educators as artificial intelligence tools become more widespread in classrooms.
Ethical and social concerns formed a central part of the debate. Participants raised issues related to equal access, data protection, system transparency, and the risk of bias that could reinforce existing inequalities. The discussions underscored that technological deployment must remain aligned with principles of inclusion and public interest, rather than being driven solely by performance metrics.
The event also explored how education systems can adapt to ongoing technological change. Key topics included teacher training, curriculum updates, infrastructure modernization, and governance frameworks. Contributors called for a coordinated approach that combines innovation with practical implementation and support on the ground.
Founded in 1997, the Zakoura foundation has played a significant role in advancing education and social development in Morocco, particularly in rural areas. The organization reports more than two million direct beneficiaries and the training of 16,000 individuals through its programs. Its initiatives focus on children’s education, youth training, and women’s empowerment, supported by partnerships with national and international institutions.
