Taounate invests in water, electricity and sanitation infrastructure modernization
More than 459 million dirhams have been allocated to modernize and expand essential public services in the province of Taounate, as part of a broader effort to improve infrastructure and reduce regional disparities in Morocco.
The investment program, led by the Regional Multiservices Company of Fès-Meknès, focuses on upgrading access to drinking water, electricity, and sanitation services. Authorities say the initiative is designed to enhance service reliability while addressing the needs of rural and underserved communities.
A significant portion of the budget is dedicated to sanitation projects, aimed at improving wastewater management and reducing environmental impact. Water supply initiatives include the extension of distribution networks, the construction of storage facilities, and the installation of pumping stations to ensure consistent access to potable water.
Plans also involve expanding electricity coverage, with the objective of achieving near-universal access across the province. Thousands of additional households are expected to be connected to the power grid under the current program.
The project includes the installation of dozens of kilometers of pipelines, new individual connections, and public water points to serve remote areas. Officials emphasize that these efforts are part of a long-term strategy to strengthen basic infrastructure and support local development.
According to regional authorities, the initiative reflects a decentralized approach that takes into account local conditions and priorities. It is also part of a wider regional campaign covering multiple provinces within the Fès-Meknès area.
The investment is expected to improve living conditions, promote economic activity, and reinforce sustainable development in the region, particularly in rural communities that have historically faced limited access to essential services.
