Syria and Saudi Arabia sign billion-dollar telecommunications agreement
Syria and Saudi Arabia have announced the signing of a landmark agreement valued at approximately one billion dollars aimed at upgrading Syria’s telecommunications infrastructure. The deal reflects a renewed phase of cooperation between the two countries, following a period of diplomatic rapprochement in the region.
According to official statements, the agreement focuses on modernizing mobile and fixed communication networks, improving coverage, and strengthening digital connectivity across Syrian territory. The project is expected to play a key role in supporting economic recovery and facilitating access to essential services.
Alongside the telecommunications deal, Damascus and Riyadh also revealed plans to establish a joint airline company. The initiative is intended to enhance air connectivity, encourage trade, and support the movement of people between the two countries.
Observers view these developments as part of broader regional efforts to boost economic cooperation and stabilize key sectors after years of conflict and disruption.
