Renault strengthens position as Europe’s second-largest hybrid car seller
Renault continues to build momentum on the European automotive market, consolidating its position as the second-largest seller of hybrid vehicles in Europe, driven by strong demand for both hybrid and fully electric models.
In 2025, the French automotive group sold approximately 2.33 million vehicles worldwide across its three brands – Renault, Dacia, and Alpine – marking a 3.2% increase compared to the previous year, in a global market that grew more modestly.
Europe remains a key growth engine for the group, with sales rising by nearly 6%, more than double the average market growth. This performance reflects Renault’s accelerating electrification strategy, with around 400,000 hybrid vehicles sold under the Renault and Dacia brands, alongside close to 200,000 fully electric vehicles.
Within the Renault brand, hybrid sales rose steadily, allowing the manufacturer to rank second in the European hybrid market, behind Toyota. At the same time, fully electric vehicle sales surged, supported by the strong commercial success of the Renault 5 E-Tech electric, now one of the most popular electric cars among private buyers in Europe.
Beyond Europe, Renault also recorded solid growth in international markets, particularly in Latin America, South Korea, and Morocco, highlighting the group’s diversified geographic footprint. Meanwhile, Dacia and Alpine contributed to the overall performance, with Dacia accelerating the electrification of its range and Alpine posting record sales.
Renault’s results underline its ability to balance innovation, electrification, and market expansion in a rapidly evolving automotive landscape.
