Morocco-Turkey: Turkish Exports Exceed 2.4 Billion Dollars in Seven Months
Morocco confirms its significance in trade between Turkey and the African continent. In the first seven months of 2026, Turkish exports to the Kingdom reached 2.43 billion dollars, marking an 11.7% increase compared to the same period last year.
These figures, communicated by the Turkish Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK), position the Moroccan market among the most important African destinations for Turkish products. This momentum reflects the intensification of trade relations between the two countries, in a context where Ankara continues its economic expansion on the African continent.
A Strategic Moroccan Market for Turkey
From January to July 2026, Morocco established itself as one of Turkey's main African partners in terms of exports. The exchanges cover a wide range of industrial sectors, including machinery and equipment, automotive products, textiles, chemicals, electronics, construction materials, and agri-food.
However, this annual growth contrasts with the trend observed in the month of July alone. Turkish sales to Morocco reached 277.5 million dollars during this month, showing a decline of 24.8% year-on-year.
This temporary decline has not, however, undermined the performance recorded since the beginning of the year, with total exports remaining on an upward trajectory.
Africa: A Growth Driver for Turkish Companies
Morocco is part of a broader dynamic of expanding Turkish exports in Africa. Between January and July 2026, Turkey's sales to African markets reached 13.3 billion dollars, reflecting a 12.6% increase year-on-year.
Several economies on the continent have recorded notable increases in their imports from Turkey. Niger, Egypt, and Libya are among the markets that have shown significant growth during the month of July.
For Turkish economic authorities, this growth relies on several factors, including the development of air and maritime connections, the increasing presence of Turkish companies on the continent, and their participation in infrastructure projects.
Today, companies from the country are present in various sectors, including road, port, airport, and housing construction, contributing to strengthening trade relations with several African economies.
Trade Supported by a Diverse Industrial Offering
Turkey's strategy in Africa also relies on the diversity of its production apparatus. Exports cover both industrial equipment and electronic products, automotive, iron and steel, chemicals, and agri-food products.
For Morocco, this diversity enhances the importance of trade relations with Turkey. The Kingdom serves as both a consumer market and an economic platform connected to European, Mediterranean, and African markets.
The continuation of this dynamic could also pave the way for new forms of cooperation, particularly through joint investments, the development of local production capacities, and the strengthening of distribution networks.
A Growing Turkish Presence Expected
The development of the African Continental Free Trade Area is also a factor that could reshape the strategies of international economic actors on the continent.
In this perspective, relations between Turkey and African economies could evolve beyond a simple export logic. The development of industrial investments, local partnerships, and joint projects could gradually take on a more significant role.
With over 2.4 billion dollars of Turkish products imported in just seven months, Morocco already appears as one of the pillars of this Turkish economic presence in Africa. Despite a temporary slowdown in July, the growth recorded since the beginning of the year confirms the strength of exchanges between the two countries and the strategic position of the Kingdom in Ankara's African trade policy.
