Renault celebrates Morocco’s first fully electric quadricycle, the Mobilize DUO

Renault’s Tangier factory marked a major milestone on Friday with the production of the 2,000th Mobilize DUO, Morocco’s first fully electric quadricycle. This innovative vehicle, tailored for urban mobility, represents a significant step forward in Morocco’s transition to sustainable transportation.

A Moroccan-made electric breakthrough

The Mobilize DUO is part of a new generation of compact electric vehicles designed for city driving. Fully developed and assembled by Moroccan talent, the project reflects the nation’s growing expertise in electric mobility. Moroccan engineers contributed to the vehicle’s cutting-edge communication system, and the production teams underwent over 8,000 hours of specialized training.

Although initially targeted at European markets, the Mobilize DUO is expected to be available in Morocco by the end of 2025. The vehicle is manufactured on a dedicated assembly line at the Tangier factory, capable of producing up to 17,000 units annually.

This initiative has also bolstered Morocco’s local auto industry, with new Moroccan suppliers specializing in electric vehicle components joining the supply chain.

A landmark celebration

The launch event in Tangier was attended by high-profile figures, including Morocco’s Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour, Mobilize CEO Gianluca De Ficchy, and Renault Morocco’s General Manager Mohamed Bachiri. Also present were regional leaders such as Omar Moro, President of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, and Mehdi Tazi Riffi, CEO of Tangier Med.

During the ceremony, Minister Mezzour praised Renault’s Tangier facility as a leader in carbon neutrality and operational excellence. He emphasized that projects like the Mobilize DUO highlight Morocco’s ability to innovate and adapt, further solidifying its status as a strategic hub for electric mobility.

Driving sustainable urban transport

Gianluca De Ficchy, CEO of Mobilize, described the DUO as a key part of the company’s vision to make electric mobility accessible to all. “Our goal is to remove barriers by offering financing, charging, and transport solutions that are smarter, safer, and more sustainable,” he said.

Renault Morocco’s Mohamed Bachiri echoed this sentiment, noting that the DUO project demonstrates the company’s confidence in Morocco’s industrial platform. The initiative also aligns with the broader push for the “Made in Morocco” label, which aims to promote the country’s industrial capabilities on a global scale.
