Poland’s EMP partners with Foxconn to develop electric vehicle manufacturing hub
State-backed ElectroMobility Poland (EMP) has announced a strategic partnership with Taiwan’s Foxconn to develop an electric vehicle manufacturing and research hub in southern Poland, marking a significant step in the country’s ambition to build a competitive domestic EV industry.
The project aims to strengthen Poland’s position in Europe’s rapidly expanding electric vehicle market, which has seen rising demand supported by shifting consumer preferences and higher fuel costs. Industry data from the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) shows that battery electric vehicle sales in the European Union increased by around one-third in the first quarter of the year.
EMP stated that discussions are underway with Foxconn and its EV subsidiary Foxtron Vehicle Technologies to define the scope of cooperation. The collaboration may include the creation of a joint venture, with formal agreements expected to be signed in the second half of 2026.
The partners also aim to finalize a broader set of agreements later this year as the project moves into its next development phase. EMP’s leadership emphasized that the initiative is designed to combine large-scale industrial capacity with advanced technological expertise.
Company representatives highlighted the importance of technology transfer, the development of local vehicle design capabilities in Poland, and the integration of domestic suppliers into the production chain. These factors were key in selecting the Taiwanese technology and manufacturing group as a strategic partner.
The project reflects a broader European trend toward expanding EV production capacity, as countries seek to reduce dependence on external suppliers and accelerate the transition to cleaner transportation.
