Morocco highlights its African vision on Africa Day

Morocco reaffirmed its commitment to Africa's development and integration during the celebration of Africa Day, with Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita outlining the Kingdom's strategic vision for the continent, inspired by the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI.

Speaking in Rabat, Bourita emphasized that Morocco's approach to Africa is built on long-term partnership, mutual respect, and shared prosperity. According to the minister, the Kingdom views Africa not merely as a geographical space but as a central component of its political, economic, and cultural identity.

The Moroccan vision for Africa is based on several key principles, including stronger continental integration, regional stability, economic cooperation, human development, and the promotion of South-South partnerships. Morocco continues to advocate a model of cooperation centered on mutual benefit rather than dependency, seeking to foster sustainable development through practical projects and knowledge sharing.

Over the past two decades, Morocco has significantly expanded its diplomatic and economic presence across the continent. The Kingdom has strengthened bilateral relations with numerous African countries through cooperation agreements, investment initiatives, educational exchanges, and infrastructure projects.

Among the flagship initiatives highlighted by Bourita are major regional projects designed to promote connectivity and economic growth. These include the Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline project and the Atlantic Initiative, both aimed at enhancing regional integration and creating new opportunities for trade and development.

The minister also underscored Morocco's growing role as an educational hub for African students. Thousands of students from across the continent pursue higher education in Moroccan institutions each year, benefiting from scholarship programs and academic partnerships that contribute to building future African leadership.

On the economic front, Morocco continues to position itself as one of Africa's leading industrial and logistics centers. The country's automotive industry, phosphate sector, renewable energy projects, and strategic transport infrastructure have contributed to strengthening its role within the continental economy.

Security and stability remain another pillar of Morocco's African engagement. The Kingdom actively supports peacekeeping efforts, counterterrorism cooperation, and initiatives aimed at combating transnational crime while promoting dialogue and regional security.

Bourita stressed that Morocco's African policy is guided by concrete action and a long-term commitment to shared development. As Africa continues to play an increasingly important role in the global economy, Morocco seeks to contribute to a more integrated, stable, and prosperous continent through cooperation and strategic partnerships.
