Six Iranian navy personnel killed in U.S. strikes, Iranian media reports
Six members of Iran’s navy were reportedly killed in U.S. military strikes carried out on September 1, according to Iran’s Tasnim news agency, as tensions between Washington and Tehran continue to escalate.
Tasnim reported that the six naval personnel were killed during U.S. attacks targeting areas inside Iran. The agency did not provide further details about the locations hit or the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
The announcement follows an earlier Iranian death toll indicating that at least 19 people were killed in attacks between Tuesday night and Wednesday, including seven members of the armed forces. It remains unclear whether the six naval personnel were already included in that figure or whether their deaths occurred in separate strikes.
Among the previously reported casualties were four people killed in an attack on a wedding ceremony in Sirik, in southeastern Iran. Around 70 others were reportedly injured in the incident, with some suffering serious wounds.
The latest announcement comes amid renewed military tensions between the United States and Iran, with both sides continuing to exchange accusations as fears grow that the confrontation could widen. The reported casualties add to concerns over the potential human cost of further U.S.-Iranian military escalation.
