Al Hoceima airport records 9.1% rise in passenger traffic through July 2026

Passenger traffic at Al Hoceima’s Cherif Al Idrissi Airport increased by 9.1% during the first seven months of 2026 compared with the same period a year earlier, according to figures released by Morocco’s National Airports Office (ONDA).

The airport handled 78,366 passengers between January and the end of July, up from 71,821 passengers during the corresponding period of 2025. The figures highlight continued growth in air travel through the northern Moroccan airport.

International services accounted for the largest share of passenger traffic. The airport recorded 61,188 passengers on international flights, representing a 12.8% increase year on year. Domestic traffic, by contrast, totaled 17,178 passengers, down 2.2% from the previous year.

Aircraft movements also increased over the period. Cherif Al Idrissi Airport recorded 795 flight movements through July, compared with 763 a year earlier, corresponding to growth of 4.1%.

The upward trend was also visible in July alone. The airport welcomed 20,725 passengers during the month, compared with 18,997 in July 2025, an increase of 9.1%.

The performance of Al Hoceima airport forms part of a broader expansion in Morocco’s air transport sector. Across the country, Moroccan airports handled 22,282,997 passengers through July 2026, up 8.77% from the 20,487,074 passengers recorded during the same period of 2025.

The latest figures underline the sustained recovery and expansion of Morocco’s aviation market, supported in part by stronger international connectivity and growing passenger demand across the national airport network.
