In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Moroccan police seized nearly two tons of hashish during an operation in Kenitra on Thursday. The operation was initiated following precise intelligence from the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), leading to the interception of a utility vehicle believed to be transporting the illicit substances.

The authorities conducted the operation along the route connecting Kenitra and Sidi Allal El Bahraoui, where they discovered 50 bundles of hashish, totaling 1,924 kilograms. In addition to the drugs, police found several counterfeit license plates inside the vehicle.

Despite the successful seizure, the driver managed to flee the scene. Authorities are currently engaged in efforts to identify and apprehend him, while investigations continue to unravel the broader network involved in this criminal enterprise.

This operation underscores the ongoing commitment of Morocco’s security forces to combat drug trafficking and the proliferation of illegal substances within the country. Such efforts reflect a broader strategy to enhance public safety and curb the influence of organized crime in the region.
