Morocco's DGSN announces 10 new appointments in security leadership positions
Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has announced 10 new appointments to senior operational and administrative positions, as part of an ongoing effort to renew its management teams and give younger security professionals greater access to leadership roles.
The appointments, approved by DGSN Director General Abdellatif Hammouchi on Friday, August 14, cover both central services and regional structures in Laâyoune, Ouarzazate, Oujda and Zagora.
According to the announcement, the changes involve several branches of the national security service, including public security, general intelligence and judicial police.
Leadership rotation at regional level
The latest reshuffle includes the appointment of two police district chiefs in Oujda, strengthening the leadership structure of the city's security services.
In Ouarzazate, a security official has been appointed on an interim basis to head the regional judicial police service. Laâyoune will also see a new head of a judicial police unit operating under its second security district.
The appointments extend to Zagora, where several officials have been assigned to key positions within local police structures.
Among them are the head of the police station at Zagora airport, the head of the urban police unit and an interim head of a judicial police brigade.
Focus on younger security professionals
The DGSN presents the latest appointments as part of a broader management policy designed to increase opportunities for younger and qualified personnel within the security administration.
The policy also emphasizes rotation in leadership positions, a mechanism intended to renew management teams and support the circulation of experience across different services and regions.
Such changes affect both operational positions in the field and strategic functions within the national security administration.
Changes also reach central services
The reshuffle is not limited to regional commands. Several central positions have also been affected, including the leadership of the demographic data management division.
Other appointments concern services operating under the Directorate of General Intelligence, bringing the total number of newly assigned leadership positions to 10.
The latest move reflects the DGSN's continued approach of periodically adjusting its management structures while combining leadership renewal with greater mobility among senior security officials.
