Man found dead in Paris apartment as police search for brother
A 57-year-old man was found dead on Friday night inside an apartment in eastern Paris, prompting a police investigation and an active search for his brother, who is suspected of involvement, authorities said.
Emergency services were called shortly after 10 p.m. to a residence on Rue de Belleville, in the city’s 20th district. Upon arrival, first responders found the man in critical condition. Despite rapid medical assistance, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Initial findings and witness statements led investigators to focus on a family-related dispute. According to information shared by judicial sources, the victim had been staying with his sister for several weeks. At the time of the incident, she was in another part of the apartment when she heard a knock at the door and later discovered her brother injured, while another sibling had disappeared.
The suspected brother, who is currently unaccounted for, is known to have psychological difficulties but was not receiving medical supervision, according to police sources. Prosecutors have opened a flagrant investigation into voluntary homicide, which has been assigned to the criminal police.
Authorities say efforts are underway to locate and question the suspect, and an autopsy is scheduled as part of the ongoing inquiry.
