Festival of Fes trio performance blends musical traditions
The Festival of Fes des Musiques Sacrées du Monde hosted an instrumental performance in Fes on June 5, 2026, bringing together three musicians from different cultural backgrounds for a shared musical creation titled “L’antidote.” The concert took place at Jardin Jnan Sbil and offered a reflective moment within the wider festival program, known for its focus on spiritual and cross-cultural musical dialogue.
The performance featured Albanian cellist Redi Hasa, Lebanese pianist Rami Khalifé, and Iranian percussionist Bijan Chemirani. Each artist arrived with a distinct artistic heritage shaped by regional traditions and international careers. Their collaboration created a collective sound shaped by dialogue rather than hierarchy, with each instrument contributing an equal narrative voice throughout the performance.
The project “L’antidote” framed music as a response to global tension and uncertainty. The compositions moved between contemplative passages and more dynamic sequences, combining classical influences with Eastern musical motifs and contemporary experimental structures. The result formed a continuous soundscape where rhythm, piano harmonies, and cello lines intersected in fluid progression.
The concert was recorded in the Apulia region in Italy before being presented in Fes, adding another layer of cultural mobility to the project. The performance reinforced the festival’s role as a platform for artistic encounters that cross geographic and stylistic boundaries. It also highlighted how collaborative creation can transform diverse musical languages into a unified experience for live audiences.
