SNCF strike disrupts train services in normandy through August 2

Rail passengers traveling between Paris and Normandy are set to face delays and cancellations this weekend after SNCF announced that an unexpected local labor action will disrupt train services from Friday, July 31, through Sunday, August 2.

The disruption comes at the start of one of France's busiest summer travel weekends, when heavy passenger traffic is expected as holidaymakers begin or end their vacations.

Several major routes affected

According to SNCF, the unplanned local strike will impact multiple long-distance and regional services connecting Normandy with the French capital.

Among the affected Nomad Résa routes are:

Le Havre – Rouen – Paris
Cherbourg – Caen – Lisieux – Paris
Trouville-Deauville – Paris

Regional Nomad services between Rouen – Vernon – Paris and Caen – Bernay – Évreux – Paris will also experience disruptions.

Passengers should expect modified timetables, delays and train cancellations throughout the strike period.

Some services remain unchanged

Not all routes will be affected by the industrial action.

SNCF confirmed that Paris–Granville services will continue to operate normally, along with all other routes across the Nomad network not specifically listed in the disruption notice.

Coach services are also expected to run as scheduled, while TGV services 5316 and 5376 will maintain normal operations.

Cause of strike not disclosed

The railway operator described the action as an unexpected local labor movement but did not specify the reasons behind the strike.

The lack of advance notice has complicated travel planning for thousands of passengers preparing to travel during the peak holiday period.

SNCF is expected to provide updated service information as the situation evolves and is advising travelers to check train schedules before departing.

Holiday travel expected to be impacted

The timing of the disruption is particularly significant, coinciding with one of the busiest weekends on the French transport calendar.
