Dassault Systèmes boosts first-half profit as AI-driven acquisition strengthens life sciences strategy
Dassault Systèmes has combined a strong improvement in first-half profitability with one of its largest strategic acquisitions in recent years, reinforcing its ambitions to expand the role of artificial intelligence in the life sciences software market.
The French technology company reported a 28% increase in net profit for the first six months of 2026 while announcing an agreement to acquire ArisGlobal, a specialist in clinical trial and regulatory compliance software, in a transaction valued at up to $2 billion.
Profitability improves despite softer revenue
Net profit climbed to €611.8 million, supported primarily by lower operating expenses and improved cost management. The stronger earnings came even as first-half revenue slipped 1% to €3 billion, illustrating the company's focus on improving operational efficiency while navigating a more challenging commercial environment.
Despite the modest decline in overall sales, management pointed to significant competitive wins that helped reinforce its long-term market position.
AI acquisition expands life sciences capabilities
The planned acquisition of ArisGlobal represents a major step in Dassault Systèmes' strategy to strengthen its presence in the healthcare and pharmaceutical software sector.
The agreement includes an initial payment of $1.8 billion, with an additional $200 million linked to the achievement of future artificial intelligence-related revenue milestones.
ArisGlobal develops AI-powered software that supports clinical research, regulatory compliance and drug safety management. The company employs approximately 1,300 people and is targeting revenue of $175 million in 2026.
The transaction is expected to close during the second half of the year, subject to customary conditions.
3DEXPERIENCE remains a growth engine
While total revenue declined slightly, Dassault Systèmes continued to see strong momentum from its flagship 3DEXPERIENCE platform, whose revenue increased 10% year over year.
The platform enables companies to connect engineering, manufacturing and product lifecycle management through virtual environments and digital twin technologies, supporting innovation across industries ranging from aerospace and automotive to healthcare.
Financial outlook unchanged
The company reaffirmed its financial guidance for 2026, maintaining its forecast for annual revenue growth of between 1% and 3%.
The results also reflect the company's evolving leadership following the appointment of Pascal Daloz as Chief Executive Officer earlier this year. Under the new leadership team, Dassault Systèmes appears focused on combining disciplined financial management with targeted acquisitions designed to accelerate growth in high-value software markets, particularly those driven by artificial intelligence and digital transformation.
Founded in 1981, Dassault Systèmes remains one of the world's leading providers of 3D design, simulation and digital twin technologies, helping organizations create virtual models to optimize products, industrial systems and infrastructure throughout their lifecycle.
