A deadly bomb explosion at a festival in Thailand’s Umphang district, Tak province, claimed the lives of three people and left 39 injured late Friday night. The blast occurred during a celebration near the Myanmar border, where approximately 8,000 to 9,000 attendees were present.

The explosion struck a dance floor, killing two people instantly and leading to a third victim’s death later in the hospital. In response to the attack, police arrested two suspects: a young Thai man and an individual believed to be affiliated with the Karen National Union (KNU), an ethnic group engaged in a longstanding conflict with the Myanmar military over autonomy.

Police reports suggest the Myanmar suspect threw the bomb after a confrontation with a "rival criminal." However, a senior KNU official has denied any involvement of the group, despite the KNU's significant presence and commercial interests along the border. The authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the motives behind this tragic event.
