Morocco and France Bruno Retailleau Expected in Rabat This Weekend
French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau is scheduled to visit Morocco this weekend as part of an official mission aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation. His trip focuses primarily on improving collaboration in the areas of security and irregular migration.
Retailleau stated that his visit seeks to “consolidate recent progress,” particularly regarding consular travel permits. According to AFP, this visit underscores a shared commitment to addressing issues of mutual concern between the two countries.
While in Rabat, the French minister is expected to engage in high-level talks with his Moroccan counterpart, Abdelouafi Laftit. Key topics on the agenda include combatting organized crime, drug trafficking, and terrorism.
A diplomatic source confirmed that Retailleau is due to arrive in Rabat late Sunday, April 13. His official meetings will take place the following day. During the talks, the two ministers will sign a strategic roadmap to deepen collaboration in migration and security.
The visit will also feature a tribute at the Mohammed V Mausoleum and discussions with French Ambassador Christophe Lecourtier. Retailleau is expected to return to France later that afternoon.
