Severe drought conditions and persistent climate challenges are reshaping Morocco's agricultural sector, with the nation's prominent farming regions experiencing significant declines in production, particularly affecting wheat cultivation.
Recent satellite data from the Copernicus program has documented a marked decrease in farming activities across Sidi Kacem, traditionally one of Morocco's key agricultural centers. The impact extends beyond crop yields, creating ripple effects throughout the country's economic and social fabric.
Water scarcity has emerged as a critical challenge, forcing many farmers to reduce operations or abandon their land entirely. The situation has particularly affected grain cultivation, pushing Morocco to increase its reliance on international wheat imports.
