Dakhla: A Symbol of Economic Collaboration and Diplomatic Support

In a significant symbolic and strategic gesture, the West London Chamber of Commerce announced via its official X (formerly Twitter) account the success of its economic mission to Dakhla, praising what it termed a "historic statement from the UK in support of Morocco's autonomy plan for the Sahara."

According to the British institution, this marks a major step toward peace, stability, and shared prosperity in the region. This visit reflects a notable deepening of relations between Rabat and London.

Morocco's strategic geographic position and political stability are increasingly attracting the interest of British economic actors, especially in light of redefined partnerships post-Brexit. By choosing to visit Dakhla, British economic representatives send a strong message: the southern provinces of Morocco are viewed not only as an integral part of the country but also as a lever for regional and continental development.

The Chamber of Commerce did not only highlight Dakhla's economic advantages but also commended the clarity of the UK's position on the Sahara issue, expressing explicit support for the Moroccan autonomy plan, which Morocco presents as a realistic, serious, and credible solution to definitively resolve this regional dispute. This endorsement aligns with a series of similar international positions, underscoring the growing isolation of separatist narratives supported by certain regimes known for fostering regional instability.

Today, Dakhla attracts not only investments but also the geopolitical attention of major powers. In this context, the UK appears to be betting on structured cooperation with Morocco, based on common interests and a shared vision for Africa's future. This direction confirms that Morocco is establishing itself as a key partner in North Africa, with its southern provinces serving as a strategic anchor in future exchanges.

Thus, the statement from the West London Chamber of Commerce transcends the mere scope of an economic mission. It reflects a clear political stance, a strategic choice, and an unequivocal recognition of Morocco's sovereignty over its Sahara. This acknowledgment aligns with pragmatic logic and mutually beneficial cooperation, moving away from rigid ideological discourse.
