Anthropic draws funding offers valuing AI startup up to $800 billion
Anthropic, the artificial intelligence company behind the Claude chatbot, has received multiple investment proposals from venture capital firms valuing the company at as much as 800 billion dollars, according to Business Insider. The company has not publicly responded to the offers, which would more than double its recent valuation and place it among the most valuable private firms globally.
The surge follows a rapid increase in Anthropic’s valuation over recent months. In February, the company completed a Series G funding round at 30 billion dollars, led by GIC and Coatue, which valued it at around 380 billion dollars. Secondary market activity has since pushed estimates higher, with Caplight pricing the company at about 688 billion dollars, a rise of roughly 75 percent in three months. Tokenized pre-IPO shares on the Jupiter platform have indicated valuations approaching 850 billion dollars, bringing Anthropic close to parity with OpenAI.
Investor interest is driven by strong revenue growth and product momentum. Anthropic recently reported annualized revenue of 30 billion dollars, up from 9 billion at the end of 2025. Much of this expansion is tied to the adoption of Claude Code, its AI-powered programming assistant, which has gained traction among enterprise users seeking advanced automation tools.
The company is also closing the gap with OpenAI in market adoption. Data from Ramp shows that 30.6 percent of its clients paying for AI services now use Anthropic products, compared with 35.2 percent for OpenAI. Analysts say the pace of adoption suggests Anthropic could surpass its rival in the near term if current trends continue.
Anthropic has also drawn attention with its latest model, Mythos, which the company has not released publicly due to cybersecurity concerns. The decision highlights ongoing debates in the industry over balancing rapid innovation with safety risks. Meanwhile, major financial institutions including Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan Chase are reportedly competing for roles in a potential initial public offering expected as early as late 2026.
Founded in 2021 by former OpenAI employees, Anthropic has raised nearly 64 billion dollars to date, with backing from major technology firms including Amazon, Google, Microsoft, and Nvidia. The competition between Anthropic and OpenAI has become a central focus in Silicon Valley, as investors weigh growth potential against already high valuations across the AI sector.
