Russia reiterates nuclear deterrence policy amid renewed security tensions

Russia has reaffirmed that its military doctrine allows for the potential use of nuclear weapons under specific circumstances, including the defense of allied nations within the framework of its collective security commitments. The statement comes at a time of heightened geopolitical tensions and renewed debate over nuclear deterrence across Europe.

A Russian representative to the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) stated that the country's national security strategy and military doctrine provide for the possible use of nuclear capabilities to protect allies if they come under attack.
